All teabags are not equal

I love a good cup of tea. Recently I noticed that some teabags need more time to brew than others to achieve the medium strength I like. So it got me thinking…

I like certainty (the average time it takes to accomplish tasks) as it allows me to plan effectively. I like consistency (a medium cup of tea every time), however since the teabags are not producing what I expect every time, I don’t throw the teabag away immediately in case I need to reinsert it for more brewing.

Being an entrepreneur is like these teabags. Sometimes our effort and time we put into our business produces what we expect. On other days the same effort and time actually produces a weak cup of tea or poor results.

So what to do? Change the brand of teabags? In business that could mean we change WHAT we do. Do all teabags have to be equal? Should we change how we look at or think of a situation?  We are creatures of habit. We like what we like the way we like it, so why change? The reality is that we are living in a time of constant change, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. We need to be able to entertain different ideas while at the same time we may not agree with them.

What type of teabag are you?
